NEW ZEALAND SHAREHOLDERS REPRESENTATION.

• Pel' Press Association. " Auckland, August 21. A meeting of shareholders in the Talis man Consolidated U.M. Co. was heli here this afternoon, Mr A. G. Buttle pre siting. Mr Buttle said a movement ha been made by shareholders in Welling ton to obtain direct representation o the Board for colonial shareholders, and [he believed that was the wish of them all. Mr Weston said Mr White and him- ! self represented, not only the Wellington shareholders, but practically those [in Dunedin, Cliristchurch, New Plymouth ■ and Nelson. They were acting in the iinterest of all shareholders, and not for ' ally brokers or any particular party. SWith directors at one end of the world, and the majority of the shareholders at the other, it was only right that the bulk of those holding shares should be I represented on the board. Now Zealand i shareholders owned about £OOO,OOO worth of the shares in the Talisman Company, and were entitled to have Hieir own representatives on the board, lid not nominees" of the London directs. (Applause.) Mr White, another Wellington reprepntative, explained how the present osition had come about. There was a ot-hed of indignation in regard to the resent directors. The Wellington comlittee had got signatures representing 50,000 shares to a power of attorney, nd intended seeing the matter through. [ it was necessary to buy more shares o get control of the mine, the Welling-' 3n shareholders would do so. Mr Weston, after further discussion, aid the Wellington committee had fixed ;s minimum demands, and if they could ot get lliem tlie.v were going to fight, 'hey wanted €4OO fixed as the directors enumeration.

Ultimately a committee was appointed to confer with Messrs Weston and White, willi a view to cabling to the London Board the minimum demand of Hie Now Zealand shareholders, the committee to have full power to act. The committee is to meet to-morrow in conference with the mine manager.
