LAND SETTLEMENT.
Per Press Association. Auckland, August 20. At the land ballot last week at Waimana, there were 250 applications for 17 farms, and all were allotted. At Opotiki there were 1601 applications for 25 rural sections. Something like 100,000 acres have been taken up in the Opotiki and Waimana districts within the past couple of years, and there is still a great (demand for land there.
