The Indian Government states the' Plague Commission bus decided 'that' bubunie plague is sprcid by rats, and] the vehicle of contagion is the rat tlea.l The plague germ's life in soil, floors, 1 and walls is of short duration. The' Government recommend destruction of! rats, the improvement of houses, pro-! tcetion of grain stores in order to reduce food for rats, the removal of people to temporary dwellings and inoculation while avoiding action calulated to ex-' cite popular opposition.
