BANKRUPTCY.

ESTATE OF W. P. CARRINGTON. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of W. P. Carrington was held at the office of the Official Assignee yesterday. Present: Messrs Medley (Assignee), M- Johnson, G. Bendall (for J. Ward and Son),and C. Buxton for D. Laing and Co.). The' statement of the bankrupt.showed that debts to unsecured creditors totalled £BB 16s 9d. The only asset was furniture £2O. The, following was the list of unsecured creditors: Dr. Walker, £7; Daily News, £1 17s Gd; D. Laing, £1 9s fld; M. Johnston, £3 Ib 9d; McEwen Bros., lis 3d; G. N. Corney, £4; G. Riddle, £5; Ramson, £2 14s; Mrs Kennington (rent), £9 10s (Now Plymouth); Lenihan, £4 10s; Jenkins,. Matthews, and Pigolt, £2 IGs; G. W. Hughes, 19s; A. Klcnner, £1; Dr. Goode, £1 15s; E. Bcckbessingcr, £9 14s (Waitara); A. O. Nichols (Inglcwood), £1; M. C. Lawson (Okato), £3; T. P. Lister (Omata), £3 7s; R. W. Harden (Kimbolton), £5 13s; C. N. Rowe (Uremii), £l2 10s; J. Burke (Urunui), £3 10s. Bankrupt, on oath, stated that for the last three years he had been a laborer. At one period he was working for 30s a week. He had to keep his family. He was at other times pottering about the bush. He had been out of work a good part of the last three years. He first began to get In debt - when a former employer became bankrupt. When he left Urenui he was be- ' hind with his debts. He had had sick- X uess in his family. He did not suppose '. he had earned on an average 35s a week ! for the Mr Townsend (Waitara), acting for several creditors, had ( pressed him, and he had to file. Mr Johnstone said he thought there | had also been carelessness. Bankrupt said that he would endeavor to pay his creditors off in small instalments. The meeting then adjourned.
