Mr Hastings Braddell, editor of the Waikato Times, lias beer appointed editor of the .Nelson Ccloiii t. The A>hburton tiuardian's Pavliamentary correspondent has Mr F. It. JbTatman's authority for stating that he has decided to stand for the Ashburton seat at the next general election. Mr Whitman states he has the support of tfie Government and will be their candidate. Mr McLachlan was asked if ho would stand again, but he would not commit himself at present. Mr 11. Jf. (Soutluiuij who lias been spending a few months in the Ola Country, is expected to leave for Ne»v Plymouth via Suez in the course oi next I week.
