WESPORT HARBOR.

Per Press Association. _ Westport, August 15. At a meeting of the Westport Chamber of Commerce to-night, a motion was carried that, in view of the recentlyexpressed wish of the Lords of the Admiralty, to establish a properly-equip-ped naval coaling station in the South lacifle, the Chamber urges upon the Government the necessity for a report by an up-to-date marine engineer on the possibility of further improvement to the harbor of Westport. The present plans, which are now completed, were designed by an ciuiennt engineer, thirty years ago, and aro practically out of date owing to the enormous improvement in mechanical appliances for dealing with alluvial deposits in rivers and bar harbors.
