THE BELFAST STRIKES.
London, August 11. Workman, Clark and Co., the Belfast shipbuilders, have temporarily discharged two thousand hands owing to "ability to get material.

Two hours desperate fighting occurred at Belfast between a howling crowd and B strong force of police, cavalry and infantry.
A child was killed, and 20 policemen seriously injured. The arrest of three hooligans led to a renewal of the mobs futy. Stones and broken bottles were thrown m Grosvenor Road, pandemonium reignigg. Reinforcements were summoned, md detachments of Cameron Highlanders and the Sussex and Essex regiment? inarched to the scene.
Caralry dashed from one end to the other of the area of disturbance, the aowds sullenly still throwing missiles. The rioters were forced into side streets, towards strong military posw. Pouring ram commenced to fall and tie crowds dispersed.
