moo Per Press Association. Auckland, August 0. Alfred Michelly, recently accountant to Wirigate and Burns, appeared at the Court to-day, charged with misappropriation of money belonging to that firm. Since Michelly was before the Court last week, a search of the firm's books has disclosed a series of fraudu- j lent conversions of money amounting to £4400. The entries extended from July, 1003, to April last. Michelly was in the (inn's employ for eleven years as accountant at a salary of .tti a week and a bonus. The auditor who examined the books said lie had been absolutely deceived by accused's account books, which otherwise wore well kept. A large number of payments made by the firm's travellers were, not accounted for. Michelly, in his signed confession, admitted misappropriation of the whole of the money. He has now pleaded guilty The Court committed him for trial.
