Recently the Government offered a subsidy of pound for pound up to ;Cloo for rain-making experiments in the North Otago district, and at a wellattended meeting of farmers to-day it was decided to accept the offer, and proceed with the arrangements. During the past seven months only 6.30 inches of rain have fallen here. The sum of £35 was collected in the room. In 1891 experiments in rain-making were tried here, and the committee at the time spoke hopefully of the results.
