Dr. (J. \V. llurty, i'.R.C.S., Ed., has been appointed honorary opthalnnc surgeon of the Wellington District Hospital. , Thu Rev. A, Harding, who is coming from England to take charge of the Queen street Primitive Methodist Church, New Plymouth, arrived at Auckland yesterday. Mr Claude L. Jewell, for six yea re editor oi Wellington Free Eanee, ami a well-known writer of verse and paragraphs for Sydney Bulletin, has joined the literary staff of the New Zealaud Times. The Rev. J. B. Brocklehurst, at present relieving the Rev. £. G. Evans as Vicar of St. Mary's, has been appointed by the Bishop of Auckland to the vicarage of Waitara. He will lake up his work there when Mr Evans returns.
