HUNTING.

MEET AT RUGBY ROAD. The Taranaki Hunt Club held a meet on Thursday at Rugby Road. A num. uer of members rude from Xew Plymouth and arrived at Inglewood abojt a quarter to eleven. Host Calgher, of the Railway Hotel, entertained the hunters to a! sumptuous lunch, an.l treated them with every kindness. Over 30 members were at the lunch tallies. A start- was made at noon from the Post-o/liee,and Rugby road was reached iit 1 o clock. After the steeplechase course had been run, a hunt was made lor a hare. The country was very broken and there was much cover. There was no difficulty in finding u. lmae. The trouble wis there were so many about that the hounds wve baffled. They failed to get a kill. Some good jumping was witnessed. The hunt was over the properties of Messrs \\ai*d, Akland, Jtrowu (2), Liudsav, , I Ifunijlile ii.nd Street. Afternoon tea was . provided by Mr and .Mrs Lewis Street.

About 5.30 the return ride to In^Te-' wood began. After man and beast had 1 been refreshed at Mr Calghart, members dispersed to their homes. The next meet will be held on the 15th inst., at Sentry Hill, Mrs Sampson having offered to entertain the club on that date. Mr Wickstced, of Junotl.m road, Tnglewood, has offered to pla ?e bin farm at the club's disposal on what' ever day 111.1 y be convenient.
