lYr Prc.ss Association. Auckland, July 2D. , The Provincial Amateur Boxing Championships concluded this evening under the auspices of the Northern Boxing Association before a large attendance. Tn the bantam-weight, J. Montagu, 8.11, defcatcil a Tooley, 8.3, after a good contest, Vv. Butland wns unable to appear, acting under medical,advice. T. Lewiß 10.10, defeated E. Thornton, 12,7, in the heavy-weights after a fast and, exciting contest, both men receiving imicli punishment jn the third round. W. Hogsn, 8.13, of Waihi, won the featherweight championship on a foul in the second round from H. Donovan, !).0. ,1. Maloney, fo.o, defeated ,1. Dean, 0.10, for the lightweight championship, in the second round/ T. Lewis, 10.10, who had a short time previously won the heavyweight contest, defeated IV. Millin, 10.12. after a rather tame contest.
