(From Oir Own Corresponds*). OPUXAKE. Sergeant Haddrell is on a visit to Opunake. The Bishop of Wellington is to visit next week to induct the Rev. Kyng|don into the charge of the Waiiiiate parish, which has been vacant for some time. The ».s. Muritai was at the wharf all day to-day discharging cargo. This is the second time this week the steamer has worked the port.

lunom Mr A. Hood, of the Rahotu Hotel, is at present confined to his bed. Another successful euchre party was held in the Kahotu Hall on Wednesday in aid of the hall fund*. Kxiictly one hundred persons sat down to play. Euchre was indulged in until 10.30 p.m., when the cards were counted and the winner* proved to he: lady, Mrs Cramer (work-box); gent., Mr A. Although only commenced on Tuesday, the cottage-a fair-sized four-roomed one— it now almost complete, and It is expected will he finished throughout, including papering, on Friday evening. A{ Mntoti on Friday evening the residents made a presentation to Mr and Mrs Woodesee, who are leaving the district. Mr YTi'fldesat has been manager of fhe Own Dairy Company's creamery for some years, and has been very popular with the settlers.
