HOCKEY.
WANGANUI DEFEAT NELSON. Per Press Association. Wanganui, July 25. the hockey match, Wanganui v. Nelson, was played on Cook's Garden this fternoon. Wanganui had the best of the game in the first spell, scoring four points to nil. The second spell was more even, Nelson scoring two goals, while Wanganui added three, the game thus ending in a win for the local team bv 7 goals to 2. The first interprovincial hockey match between Nelson and Taraliaki was phycd at Hawcra on Wednesday, and resulted in a win for the visitors by 3 goals to 2. Marctt was responsible for both Taranaki goals, and Wanstall (2) ami Staples scored for Nelson.
