When the company arrived they cut out the first matinee, which was to have taken place this aftqrnoon, and a number of country people who had turned up were disappointed, no 'announcement of the fact having been advertised. '•Carmen" was performed all right lust night, but 'Tanhauser" was to" have tome' to-night. When the audience arrived they found huge placards posted about the t heal re that, owing to the indisposition of Hcrr l.udermann, the piece could not be played, and it has now been postponed til next week. "Faust" was put on instead, but instead of starling at the advertised time of 7.40 it did not begin till S, and,at 11 b'elock. the second last a'e" was only opening. A number of people left the theatre before the close. Trams are blocking Queen street, which have been waiting since 11, the ordinary time for leaving of the last trans, ami will cost Ihe Tramway Company a good sum for overtime. It was announced th.it ''Lohengrin" would ho played to-morrow, but that lias gone by the board, and '■Carmen" Is to have a second performance. Much indignation has lwen expressed,
