The unfortunate man was seen lying in the water near the vc.-01. apparently unconscious, as he made no effort to grasp some timber thrown overboard,, which floated within his reach. The vessel was brought found, and a search was made, but no sign of Hughes was discovered. Hughes, who was about 50 years of ago, leaves a '.riuow an-1 f uni'v of ?ev?n in Sydney.
