THE MONO RAIL.
Mr Louis Brennan (says a Home contemporary) is likely to have difficulty in fully establishing his claim to be the originator of his single-rail or gyroscopic idea for a raiway. Herr Schlick, a Hamburg engineer it is asserted by the Berlin Lokalanzeiger, in IDOS patented a preciely similar invention, and made practical use of it on ships; but we have heard nothing of the. development of any such system of mono-railways in the Fatherland—so that, failing definite evidence to the. contrary, Mr Brennan is still entitled to rank as the only inventor of i scheme of practical value. The paper quoted thinks the invention will not work on a large scale—it may do -well for a toy model, and the account of it reads well on paper.
