RIPENNG FRUIT BY ELECTRICITY.
Ripening fruit Tiy electricity ia one of the latest achievements of science. The experiment was tired by an electrical expert, who found that he could reproduce the effect of the tropical sun's rays without the slightest difficulty. The ripening experiments have been tried for the most part on bananas. When bundles of the green fruit arrive they are put in an airtight ease made entirely of glass. Tnside this ease Is supplied with a number of electric lights, which can be turned on and off in »nv number at will. It has been discove™,! that the bananas ripen according to the amount of ravs <hcd on them. The expert has made' fpsts so that now he can ripen bananas ■>t any time be wants by regulating the 'ights. This is an immense advantage over the ordinary method of ripening.
