CECIL RHODES'S YOUTHFUL DREAM.
The Express published on 30tli April the text oi that, extraordinary iirst will inaue by the late, Cecil Kkudes and recently referred Lo by Earl drey in a speech at New lurk. The will is dated lutli September, 18i7, when Mr lthodes was only twenty-three years old, and was, in the winds of Earl Grey, trekking over the boundless plateaus oi Souih Auiea anil sleeping under the stars, in this wi.t, Mr luiuites beuueawed everything he had to trustees, who were instructed to apply his estate towards the establishment of the following subjects:— "'the extension of British rule throughout the world, the perfecting of a system of emigration from tile United Kingdom, and the colonisation, by British subjects, of all lands wherein the means of livelihood are attainable by energy, labor, and enterprise, and especially the occupation by British settlers of the entire Continent of Europe, the Holy Land, (,],„ va ij..,.- „f Uie Euphrates, the islands of Cyrus and Candin, the whole of South. America, the islands of the Pacilic not heretofore possessed by G rea t Britain, and the whole of the Malay Archipelago, the seaboard of China and Japan, the ultimate recovery of the United States of America as integral part of the British Empire, and, finally, the foundation of so great a Power as to hereafter render war impossible, and to promote the best interests of humanity."
