THE LATEST IX SOCIETY. The fan which has always been the theme of |>oets as the prettiest item in a woman's toilette, is regaining it- popularity in l-ondon this season. It is necessary for the smart woman to have an ontfit'of fans if she would lie quite up-to-date. Xot only must she have one to match the enhir of every gown. Imt also one fitting for the occasion. "A tiny fan in a shade to match the hit should he carried in the Park in the morning." said a Bond street modiste. •'For instance, a lady wearing a cream costume, a pale hlue hal. and feather Ima must provide herself with one of iliese minatiire fans in pale hlue silk. hand-painted or glittering with sequins. "An afternoon fan is much more claliorate. hut equally small. It is generally made of real lace or fine silk, hand-em t..-, •' m,| with flowers. "The river fan is made of paper printed with a floral design. A tiny motor fan fold- lip and fits into a "vanity" hag. "The peacock's feather fan is a novelty of the season, and floral fans, made of real flowers., will lie largely in request. The 'fan due line' for a reception is comisised of mother-of-pearl, set with jewels. and held tocethcr with hands of fiiver game rlbon."
