THE ALLOCATION OF "THIRDS." ROAD WORKS. 'The Stratford County Council having failed to submit proposals for expenditure of thirds accrued from lands in the eastern portion of the county within 18 months of being notified of the amount accrued, tho Commissioner of Crown Lauds and Chief Surveyor, Mr F. Simpson, submitted a scheme to the Land Board on Tuesday. The proposals were approved. OUURA ROAD. (Jul of £178!) Us Gd accrued, the bulk will be spent on the Olmra road. Repairs to metal on the 'Olmra road and the maintenance of the dray road, near lluiakama, fronting the sections from which the thirds have been derived; extending by seven chains the shell rock metalling'from mile peg 22, in conjunction with Government works, near lluiakama; sanding (13 chains of dray road, in conjunction wiJK Government works, froin Pohukura post office towards Stratlmiore; and sanding 45 chains of dray road, in conjunction with Government works, from Pohukura post office towards Whangamomona; repairing two miles of the metalled road between south-western end of metal and Whangamomona ; four miles of metalling repairs from Whangamomona township to end of metal beyond Marco road; 18 chains extension of metal, in conjunction with Government works, from present terminus of metal towards Kohuratahi road; 15 chains of papa metalling in conjunction with. Government works, at worst places between sections 00 and 98, block 10, Pouata, near Tahora; repairs to two miles of dray road, near Tahora, along frontage of section .1, block 7, Pouata. Proposals included the formation and extension of dray roads, forming and extending bridle tracks, widening, and repairs Mangachu, Mohakau, Fnvier, Murcott, Puncwhakau, Prospect, Whitiangi, Pnkeko, Mangaowhata, Vero, Tahora, Rinmpata Marco, Whangamomona, Mangarc, Paorangi, Manga, Rae-, kolma, Mangonpa, Moki, Ohaewni, Arnold, Matirangi, Mauku, Mangapaka, Makahu, and Klrai roads. Metalling is proposed on 5 chains of Puniwhakau road from Puniwhakau Village eastward, in conjunction with loan money and Government subsidy; metalling six chains Whitiangi road where most necessary, down sideling along frontage of section 88, Block 10, Ponatu: metalling % chain dray road in conjunction with loan money on Makalm road.
