FABLE OF A CLAIM FOR .1:40.000,000. Lodnou, May 20. The visit of the Marchese Vinccnzo I'eruzzi to England has inspired certain journals to publish an extraordinary -lory to the effect that he Is prosecuting a claim tor JI4U,OUO,ihMI against the ISritish Government.
The story is an old oue ; and has its origin in the fact that in the year 1:100 A.D., an ancestor of the Marquih advanced a sum of 1:2.400,000 to King Edward I. This amount, with compound interest, constitutes the alleged claim against the throne The truth is, however, tliat the Marquis is visiting London in view of his marriage, a fortnight hence, to Miss Betty Cox. •There is not an atom of truth in the absurd story of a claim agaist the British Government." said Miss Cox's brother to an Kxpress representative. "Years ago, when at the Embassy, the Marquis' grandfather found it necessary to give a similar rumor public denial. The Marquis has come over here to many ray sifter.
