CENTRAL SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The Central School Committee met last night. There, were present: Messrs F. T. Uorkili (chairman), the KcV. S. S. Osborne, -Messrs. F. A. Avery, F. U. Grifliths, (.1. 11. McUahey, J. tlranl, and U. M. Kebbell. Correspondence was read from the Education Board, notifying that the appointment of Mr Mcllroy as instructor at the 'technical School iu connection with the High School scholars' class, would receive consideration, of discontinuance at the end of present course; and forwarding iCW 5s Gd capitation due. The matter of ploughing and levelling portion of St. Michael's Square was discussed, and it was decided that, providing that a suitable offer be made for the surplus earth along the Lemon street frontage, steps he taken to have the bank cut back, so as to give ample room for planting on the street level behind the fence. Mr. .1. Skinner will be asked to give an estimate as to the quantity of earth required to be removed.
The balance-sheet in connection witli the recent concert was laid before the meeting, showing total receipts £4l lis, expenditure .ti) 10s (id, leaving a surplus of ,<;:il 14s Cd, which was considered most satisfactory. It was decided to acknowledge the several concessions made oil' accounts, and also to thank the Garrison Band and the performers. It was decided to send a requisition to the Education Board for a school ladder.
