CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Kditor. —I- Whittle, chili captain N.P.C.C'.'' hardly grasps the purport of mv former letter. It wrote with the idea of—with your permission. Sir—causing a good tempered, healthy discussion as to formulating some plan" whereby ail cricket clubs would have au equal chance of utilising the ground. I should have thought Mr Whittle would have been one of the first—from t'hrisicliurch experience—to sugge-t a reasnuable idea of satisfying all club.. instead of which he uses the most vital part of the space allotted in your issue of Thursday the commencement—to mildly abuse "MeDougal' for not disclosing his identity. -Vot to monopolise too much of your valuable space. Sir. I will close with a practical suggestion: As the oldest cricket club ill the district, the New Plymouth Club might as earlv as pos-d1,!,. draw out its fixtures, utilising alternate Thursdays for its matches, and using the ground for practice every week-night when all bona fide members of local cricket clubs should be allowed to participate. This would ensure a practice attendance every evening if at least a dozen, and not as now. have the greatest difficulty in getting at the most six members of the X.P.C.C.. and those who require practice the least. By adopting this plan the objectionable net practice could bo dispensed with, and local cricketers taught to field, which is at present almost a lost art.—l am, etc..

McDOUGAL.

Mr E. Whittle writes: I wish to draw your attention to two errors in the setting ii|> »f niv letter on Wednesday. The sentence '"The Spprts (iround Committee has not." etc.. should rend "The Sports Cround Committee has now." etc.; also the portion of the sentence "will not conclude.'' etc., should read "will not exclude."
