Total, £5303 18s.
In moving the adoption of the balancesheet the chairman stated that the year had been fairly good from a financial point of view, but not so good as it might have been. The four days' racing I had been weU conducted. The lields had been good and the lacing excellent. Considerable improvements had been effected to the course and grounds, which would no doubt had been appreciated by the public. The club's property had been revalued by a committee. The land had been valued not as a racecourse, but at ordinary land values. The grandstand and other buildings had been valued as ordinary buildings. The revaluation showed that the assets of the club were better than previously. The expenses for the year had been heavy. The bookmakers' trouble had been an unfortunate, one. but the club's solicitor had been instrumental in having the matter placed successfully before the highest authorities. He hoped members in the future would taboo bookmakers and use the totalisator on race days. The membership showed a marked increase and would shortly total over 100. The speaker paid a feeling tribute to the late Mr .las. Paul, who had always been a true s|»rt, and taken a keen and live interest in the club's advancement. As a tribute to his memory the Autumn Plate has been (with Mrs Paul's consent) altered to the Paul's Memorial Stakes.
