CORRESPONDENCE.

THI'I RECREATION SPOUTS GROUND.

To the Editor.

Sir,—l was astonished to read in your issue of yesterday a letter by "MacDougal," who unjustly accuses the New Plymouth Cricket Club of trying to monopolise the use 'of the Recreation Ground and cricket generally, and 1 would respectfully point out to "MacDougnl," whoever he is, that the N.P.C.C. has not claimed any more right to the use of the Recreation Ground for cricketing purposes than any other eluli. That the N.I'.C.C. has used the Kec. in the past w.as due to the fact that they were then tlie only club in Ixew Plymouth, excepting C'arriiigton Road, who always had their own ground, and in using the liec., application was always made to the Ree. Board for permission to do so. There is no doubt the same privilege would have been granted any other clubs in existence by the Board if they reipiired the use of the ground. The .Sports (iroiiiid Committee has not been approached by the N.IU'.C. lo ascertain whether the ground will be available for cricket during the ensuing season, and imiler what condition % will the ground lie let. There Is nothing to prevent "MacDougnl" putting in a similar application on uehalf of his club, and likewise any other club, and I feel sure the present Sports Ground Committee will not eonelude or give any particular chili the sole use of the ground provided, of course, the accommodation is not overtaxed. "Mac-Dongal" suggests that lids little matter should he thrashed out in the papers, but my experience in that direction is "that the other fellow is always wrong," and finally the Editorial footnote, ''This correspondence must now cease."—l am, etc., K. WHITTLE, phlb Oapt. N.P.C.C.
