Received 3rd, 9.2 a p.m. Capetown, July 3. The Cape Assembly unanimously adopted Hon. .1. Merriman's resolution thanking the Imperial Government for granting responsible Government to the Transvaal and Orangia. and expressing the hope that the federation of South Africa would follow. Dr. Jameson bantered Mr Merriman on coining to the rescue of the Imperial Government. He declared that all South Africa wanted responsible Government, only some thought it ought to come earlier, and some later. Theodore Sehrimer refused to vote, declaring the Imperial Government had betrayed the nav linterest by granting unconditional resjionsible government. Australian Mails Carriage.
