<. SYNDICATE'S CONTRACT CANCELLED. Received 3rd, 9.20 p.m. p Melbourne, July 3. Mr Deakiu stated to-day that the Goj vernnient, being convinced tliat the mail j syndicate wis unable to carry on except with indefinite delay, had cabled to Captain Collins last night to cancel the contract. Tenders would be called for a mail sen-ice to-morrow, and arrangements were being liade with the Orient Company to cany on the service until the new tenders have been dealt with. Received 3rd, 11.511 p.m. London, July 3. The Shipping Gazette understands that the mail syndicate had arranged for the debenture issue.
