At the Court tliis morning a " local baker was lined £5 and costs on a charge of having on his premises, for the purpose of preparation for sale for human sonsumption, four pounds of butter, the same being unwholesome and unfit for human consumption. Medical evidence was given to the effect that the butter was not only rancid and discolored, but possibly teeming with bacteria. The defence was (hat the butter was only used for greasing tins in the bakehouse.
