ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Tlie evidence showed that deceased lived alone and was the owner of considerable property. He had been in a very bad state of health for a long time past, and had latterly become very despondent. About nine o'clock he was found sitting in an arm-chair with a double-barrelled shot gun between his knees, and the muzzle inside Jus waistcoat. He held a long wooden lath in his left hand. One barrel only had been loaded, and the. cartridge was discharged. There was a large wound in the man's chest. The jury's verdict was "Suicide while of unsound mind."
A young man named Angus Skinner attempted to commit suicide at tho Trocadero on Monday morning. He was found lying on the floor with his throat cut, but the wound was only a little more than skin deep. Mr Crisp, in tho first instance, aud then Dr. Leatliam, rendered assistance. He is to be brought before the court on a charge of attempted suicide. He is a plastered by trade, and is alleged to have been drinking in Hawera lately.
