DRAUGHTS MATCHES.
A draughts tournament was held last night at Mr. Jelliies' Afternoon Tea Rooms, when two teams of town players met two country teams. The result was a substantial win for the countrymen. Five games each were played. Following are scores:—Bruce S wins; ■linkinson, 2'/ 2 ; Williams, 1; Oliver, 1 and two draws; Handley, 0; Beals, 2; Davy, iy s j Hooker, 2</ 2 ; Nicholls, l'/ 2 ; Jelfries, 1. Total, 19. Country: G. Davy, 4'/ 2 ; Chant, 4'/ s ; Englefield, l>/ 2 ; Copestake, 2'/ 2 ; Wright, 2%; H. Rogers, 3'/ 2 ; K. Rogers, 4%; Rickards, 3; Hellier, 5; Munro, '/ 2 . Total, 31. A return draughts match was played between Carrington and Trankley road, at Mr. Englefield's house. The scores were: Carrington Road: W. Hooker, 3; U. Gilbert, 2; C. Gilbert, 2; H. Spence, 2; J. Waters, I; total 10. Frankley Road. C. Chant. 5; S. Englefield, 4; F. Baker, 3; li. Grooby, 1; A. Lander, 1; total U. Frankley Road won by four games. Mr. U. Gilbert "returned thank's on behalf of the Carrington Road players for the. way they had been entertained. Refreshments were provided hy the Prankley Road players.
