Captain Edwin wired at one o'clock ! yesterday: Strong easterly winds; glass rise; tides low; probably frost tonight. The weather being favorable the Rnrawa will leave New Plymouth this mornnig lor Tirau Point, the scene of the wreck of the Kia Ora, for the purpose of picking up the lifeboat and raft belonging to the ill-fated vessel, besides the life-belts, etc., that might be on the beach. The New Plymouth Horticultural Society's committee met last night, Mr .1. Paton, president, occupying ti lo chair. There was n f„U attendance. The principal business was the consideration of the annual statement of accounts to be preseu:ed at the annual meeting to he held next Wednesday evening. The, balance-sheet showed that receipts had just about balanced the expenditure.
