At the • ordinal")' monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable .Aid Board on -\luuday, tli re were present: JoesM* J. il. Parker (ei;airni;;u), F. Beilr.nger, Burgess, U. O'lSullivan, and D. il. McDonald. Tho Treasury forwarded subsidies amounting to XIU2 2s 4d. STiiATFOUD HOSPITAL. Air. il. Xonnan Liardet, secretary to l.he Stratford Board, wrote that the fctraiford institution was now open, and requested that no patients from that district should be admitted to the New Plymouth institution unless they k.ul an order for admission signed by u.-j Strati ford Board. The letter also conveyed to Mr. kepper, the Board and the New Plymouth hospital stall' the thanks of the Stratford Board and their appreciation of the kind consideration • shown to Sir. tford patients, and trusted that the a'.-aicable relation.-. would continue. The PaliinrsLou Noilh Hospital and Charitable Aid Jioard wrote with regard lo a family named Aten'y recently arliveil ihcre fnini iOltliam. consisting of a wife and six children. The husband was ill, and had ii> lie attended liy a doctor, and the wife anil children wen! destitute.. The coal to that Jioard was now 8s 4d per week for rations. Firewood had to be supplied, medical attendance and drugs, and probably rent wullM have to be paid for. Was the Taranaki Jioard prepared to reimburse themV—Not in this district. AIEDICAIj IiIiPOKT.
During the month of forty patieuls were admitted to the hospital. Of these 3i were discharged, til roe died, and 45 remain in the institution. There were eighteen operationsj and scs'en eases were treated in the consumptive annexe. At the beginning of tlie month there were 30 patienU in the institution, 35 having been discharged during April and i two died. There were in April 10 operai lions.
Accounts were passed for payment: Hospital, iioOl 10s 4d; charitable aid, 3s 7d.
The chairman reported iliat the tender of Mr. (i. Coleman had been accosted fov improvements and alterations at th" hospital, and the work was now proceeding. .Mr. was elected to the house commit tee, vice Mr. 'J isch.
