At IJurnside to-day tliere was a, medium yarding of fairly good quality sheep. Tlie demand for well-finished was good, hut inferior sorts were to quit. For good sorts the price was quite equal to late values, and if anything showed an advance of one shilling per head. Quotations: Best wethers 20s (id to 24s Gd, extra to 28s, medium 18s to 21s, light 15s to 10s; extra heavy ewes to 23s fid. good 18s to 20s, medium to good 15s to Ills.
Lambs: Tliere was an excellent entry of lainhs both in quality and quantity. and accordingly the demand was good. Quotations: Best lamhs 18s to 19s, extra to 21, medium lis (id to Us (id, others Os to lis Gd.
Cattle: The yarding in fat cattle was small, but was made up of excellent quality. Prices obtained were better than had been the case for some weeks. Quotations: Best cattle to £l2 7s (id, medium to good £9 15s, light to £0 7s. best heifers £6 10s to £B.
Pigs: A small yarding of pigs was offered. The quality was hardly equal to late entries, although a pen or two of good porkers brought good values. Quotations: Suckers 5s to 9s, slips Bs to 13s, stores to 20s, porkers 30s to 38s, baconera 40s to 50s, heavy baconers up to £3.
ADDINGTON MARKET
Per Press Association. Christchurch. June 5. At Addington market to-day there was a fairly good attendance, but the entry of stock in most of the departments was smaller than last week. There was a good yarding of fat cattle, and price 3 were slightly easier for ordinary quality, though good prime sorts sold better. Twenty head of cattle forwarded from the North Island made £9 10s to £lO 15S. Beef made 20s to 22s 6d for ordinary, and up to 25s for prime. There was n very poor yarding of store sheep, comprising mostly wethers and lamhs, and the sale was very dull. Most lots were cleared at reduced prices. The range of prices was: Wethers 10s Gd to 14s, ewes 4s lOd to 7s, lambs 5s Gd to lis lfld.
There was an exceptional yarding of fat sheep of fairly pond quality. Prices were easier, especially towards the end of the sale, when ewes particularly suffered a marked decline; prime wethers made up to 255, medium IDs to 2fls fid, others 16s to 18s. prime ewes 17s to 20s. medium to 17s. aped Us to 10s. The entry of fat lambs was smaller than last week, and the market was about the same. Tegs made from 18s to 22s 6d. and freezing lambs 14s (id to 18s. There was a medium yarding of fat pigs. The demand for porkers was not so keen as last week. Baconers sold fairly well, and made 48s to f!4s, equal to 5d per Hi; porkers brought 32s to 425. equal to s'/ 2 d per lb; strong stores made 265, suckers and weaners 6s to 12s 6d.
