SIR JOHN FORREST INTERVIEWED. Sydney June 4. Sir John Forrest (Acting-Federal Premier) has returned from Brisbane. He expressed himself pleased with the decision of the Premiers' Conference on the question of the relations of the States and the Commonwealth, but disappointed that no favorable decision regarding State debts had been coine to.

While in Queensland Sir John Torrest made extensive enquiries regarding the sugar industry in the northern part of the State. He considers the industry profitable. Some of the planters are depressed by the outlook, but the majority are hopeful. Kanakas have almost disappeared and are now practically a thing of the post.
