THE CHINESE RISING

REBELS DEFEATED. Pekin, June 3. The rebels have been defeated between Anioy and Swatow. Seven hundred were killed. Two thousand drilled troops have reached Swatow. The trouble arises from the failure of officials to distribute food in the famine districts.

The British and American fleets are concentrating a t Pakhoi and other ports of Southern China in the event of trouble spreading.
