NGAIRE. Winter has commenced in real earnest in our locality, as during the past week we havo had samples of snow, hail, rain and frost.
On Monday night a fine and unusual sight was witnessed about !) p.m., snow falling heavily for a short time, creating a most charming effect in the brightness of the full moon. Many residents turned out to indulge in the favorite pastime of snowballing. A heavy frost followed the fall of snow, and this sudden severity in the weather has caused the milk supply to fall off considerably, and the factory is now only running on alternate days. A Farmers' Vnion social was hold on Thursday night, and was a great success. This being the first of the season, was well attended by dancers from near and far throughout the district. We are well catered for by the entertaining profession, as during the past week we havo had a. visit from a variety company as well as a dramatic entertainment. |
