Thursday next will witness ons of the most important theatrical events in the annuls oi New Plymouth since the , previous visit of the same company in \ June last with the F.rtal Wcuilin;;. I Messrs Meynell and ilium's Fatal Wediling Company, with ihe famous linglHi actor, Mr Uarcouri Realty, as leading star, make their reappearanec in this town at the Theatre Royal in the celebrated musical drama "The .Midnight Wedding,'' which is described as being certainly one of the most admirable .inu well-balanced romantic dramas which have been presented in the colonics. The refinement and gracefulness of its story is emphasised all the more by the entire absence of sensationalism and braggadocio. "Walter Howard's 'Midnight Wedding' says a critic, is full of life and movement, is one of the few recent plays which hold audiences fu-t from ring up of curtain to ring-down. It has not a dull moment in it, and might pass for a spirited condensation of one of Anthony Hope's early novels." Referring to Mr BeatC/'s perforata ice as l'ntil Valmar the Adelaide Advertiser remarks: ".Mr Uarcourt Beatty, of course, was the star artist of the company, and his re-appearance in Adelaide —which has been on the lip of every lover of the stage for days past—was a feature of the production. Kvcryoue likes him, from the critic's box to the pit. and his reput.ttion has been earned bv the. steady development of a rare histrionic gift. He i- not a ranter, far from it.
