Addressing 400 Ealing scholars on Empire Day Mr. Bent, Premier of Victoria, referring to the enthusiastic demonstra tions in Mr. Botha's honor, declared thai Australians would not have shouted themselves hoarse and fluttered while handkerchiefs, hut would have remembered the sorrowing widows, the wooden legs, and the armless men in their midst. He hoped Mr. Botha would keep his promises, and the Transvaal would provein the future a good friend to the Motherland, as Australia had been and was.
