FIRE BOARDS.

Per Press Association. Wellington, May 18. The Acting-Postmaster-Generai (Dr. Findlav) informed a Post reporter today that tlie question of settling the Government representation on the Fire Boards had been remitted by Cabinet to himself and the }Jon. J. A. Millar, and it was hoped they would be able to make recommendations early next month. Dr. Findlay pointed out that a difficulty had arisen owing to the failure of some of the local bodies and insurances companies to take the necessary proceedings required by the Act. As a consequence they lound the allotted time in which full benefit could be taken off the working of the Act has been passed. The matter is now receiving special attention.
