l'cr Tress Association. Gishorne, May 10, Sydney Herbert Eddell, charged with the theft of money from various women, totalling £47 Ms od, was sentenced to nine months. 0. P. Lewis, Government A'aluer, proceeded against W. A. Spur, rill, a member of tlio Eoadjßoard, for ,I'slo libel. It is alleged that respondent accused the Government Valuer of receiving a bribe.
Wellington, May 14. Thomas Wallace, alies Williams, alias McGownn, was found guilty of defrauding James Chapman ana Arthur Chapman of £9O. Iho Chapmans aro recent arrivals from England, and were duped by a confidence trick. Wallace was lent i. J gaol for three years.
