The electrical engineer reported having erected a new lamp at the Devon- ' Cover street comer. Messrs. Turnbull and Jones had offered to supply flame arc lamps at £8 each, burning 12 to 16 hours. Plant for the electrical extension was now on its way from Ensland. ° COMMITTEES' REPORTS. The Works Committee's rcnort was adopted the Council agreeing 3 t 0 TE suggestion that the offer of the gnat • authorities to supply gravel for street purposes. The Carnegie Library Committee recommended the acceptance of Mean l-ooii Bros.' tender for the erection of the Cnnegie Library building at jCIWO-'Tr ss. The chairman of the committee (Cr. Bellringer), in moving the adoption of the report, said the first tenders received had been above the amount of the engineer's estimate. The two lowest tenders then had been those of Mr •lohns at £2153, and Messrs Boon Bro*. at £2IOO.
