TRAGEDY FOLLOWS A ROMANCE.

A death-bed romance enacted four years ago came to a tragic conclusion for the heroine in the law court at Breslau.

One day in the spring of 1003 Count Chiinare, a German nobleman, was motoring with his friend, Fraulein Wanda Blaustein, an actress, when he sustained mortal injuries by an accident. Fraulein Blaustein escaped with a slight shock, and Count Chimare insisted o'l marrying her as he lay on his deathbed.

He then made a will making her -ole heiress of his immense fortune. He died almost immediately afterwards, with the Countess Chamare's hands clasped in his own.

Count Chamare's relatives claimed that the- marriage His void, and the will invalid, and brought an action to prove their contentions. The High Court gave judgment iu favor of tlie yonng Countess, but the dead Count's relative appealed against this decision. ilie Court of Appeal ha* now given judgment against the Countess by declaring the marriage invalid, and the will null and void. The lady, wdio has been regarded as Count ess for four years, must now resume her maiden name, and give up the large fortune which she inherited.
