THE WHEAT MARKET.

AMERICAN EXCITEMENT CON-' TINUES. Received loth, 12.25 0,111. New York, May 14. There was tremendous excitement on the Chicago Kxchange when September wheat touched a dollar. These wero enormous transactions and rapid fluctuations, also extensive transactions in New \ ork.

RISE IN FLOUR. Per Press Association. Dunedin, May 14. The hardening of the wheat market, caused by reports of crop shortage in the colony, allied to the excited condition of the American and European markets, is responsible for the advance of 10s per ton in the price of flour. The tariff of the New Zealand Flour Millers' Assoeiation lias accordingly been revised, and now stands: Sacks £9 Bs in 100's, £0 15s in 50' a, £lO in 25's, £lO in s's. The shipping price has been advanced to £9 f.0.b., and Invereargill prices to £9 lOs. It is quite on the cards that should the wheat market continue to ndvance, another rise in the price of flour may shortly be made.

The usual monthly meeting of the Master Bakers' Unipn will be held on Thursday, but it is unlikely that any alteration will be iuade in the, price of bread. Any further advance in flour will, however, place a different 'complexion on affairs.
