THE ELECTRIC LIGHT.
The Electric Light Committee is to submit tile following recommendations to the Borough Council:— That the salary of the third engineer (Mr AV. Hewlett) fit the power-housn bo increased to £lO3 per aniiimi; tJiatt the engineer be instructed to extend the electric light maim in Devon street from Cut held road to a point about four chains beyond lMi road at an estimated cojsl of £O2 (including one .streej lamp); that Mr S. Shaw be informed;; that the Council will be prepared tio provide a street lamp at the corner ctf; , Devon street and Belt road for ,64 10* a a year; the electrical engineer to proy cure four flame arc lamps, to take the, place of the four Nernst lamp's already authorised, and to Mi erected one each at the railway station, at the King-Egmont, Devon-EgF mont, and Devon-Robe street intersections the engineer (o hire a 2o k.w. alternator from the Wellington Eleclric Light Co. for two months at £lO a, month, and the Works Committee to make such arrangements as will permit the traction engine (o be at th» disposal of the electrical engineer for the pur?.i pose of driving the dynamo at the distributing station during June and July the engineer's residence to be connected with the telephone exchange and with! the distributing station by privale wirethat the charge for lighting the Town' Ifnll and baths for the year ending, March 31st, 1007, be £550, and £(300 for the ensiling year, extra glow lamps ■■£2 10s per annum; that an' extra glow lamp be erected in Rill street between '■over end Eliot streets.
