AUSTRALIA'S SUGGESTED WITHDRAWAL. Received 12th, 5 p.m. London, May 11. Admiral Frcniantle, in an interview on the Xaval Agreement, declared that if Australia chose to act aloof, she will get an inferior article. A small navy had serious drawbacks and dangers; among others, it was impossible to offer a career to good men. Though he had every sympathy with Australian ambition, he failed to see the wisdom of their withdrawal from the naval agreement.
