THE WEST COAST REFREGERATING COMPANY, LIMITED.

To the Editor

Sir,—Our attention has boon drawn to a paragraph w.hic-h appeared in your paper a few days back. referring to the .Moturoa Freezing Works, "Willi lvlVrenee to the lir.-l part of the paragraph, ill - . .T. It. Scott is quite entitled to Ills opinion, though because il is his opinion does no! go to prove hi* assertion is correct. The latter part of the . paragraph is absolutely untrue, ami it is a pity, as you mentioned the name of Mr. Scott as responsible for the iirst half of the paragraph, you did not also give the name of the buyer who supplied you with the untrue information contained in the second half or the paragraph. Now, Sir. to come to facts. The only butter that has gone north, that has been usually shipped through Pafea, was the Pihama Company's April make, which does not signify anything, as we often luive northern factories' winter makes for a mouth or so down here, when required for special purpose*. Every fac- 1 lory shipping through this port last, season has shipped through here again' this season. Not a singX, one has gone north. Resides this, one of the factories holding shares in the Moturoa works is not only shipping its produce through this port, but has also taken shares in this company, and it recognises it is to its advantage to do so. This factory will this season export over 800 tons of cheese, and will save over *£2oo accord- ; ingly by shipping through Patea. As j the statement referred to is ealculaled ; to do our business considerable harm, | we trust you will publish this denial in the columns of your paper.--! am. clc., for tlie West Coast lMrteeratiny Co.. J Ad., Paten. ]>'. \W (JUAINCJF.U. Secretary.

P.S.—At the present time we have a month's supply of butter from au Auckland factory for special purposes.
