A GAS COMPANY'S PROPOSAL.
Per Press Association. Dunedin, May S. At. to-night's meeting of the ' City Council the Dunedin and Suburban Cas Company asked the Council's favorable consideration of a private ISill to tic introduced delining ils portion and the position of (he local bodies. The Hill would also give the city or any borough the right to purchase at any time, on giving six months' notice, at a price, to lie lixed by arbitration, it not by agreement. Several Councillors expressed strong disapproval of any proposal to purchase, and the matter was referred to si committee to consider and report.
