A vote of thanks to Mr. Dockrill and confidence ill the Government was earned on the motion of Mr. Willoox, seconded by Mr. Anglesea.' An amendment by .Mr. Weakley, of thanks only but not a vote of confidence, was lost.'
Voles of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
A palpable error occurred in our report of Mr. Okey's speech. The reference to Sir John llall applied, of course, to the Women's Franchise measure, which lie brought forward, and not to the Shops and Factories' Act. Similarly it was in regard to the franchise that •Mr. (Ikoy twitted Liberals with retiring from the precincts of the House when a division was called. The omission of a number of linos, through the vagaries of the linotype, was responsible for the error, which we hasten to rectify. The seconder of the vole of thanks'at Mr (•key's meeting was Mr. William Tweedale. Mr. Chndwiek disclaims the distinction which the .Yews unwittingly conferred upon liini. Mr. Malone struck drizzly weather at Okato on Monday night, but had an attendance of close oil 40 representative electors. The candidate drew attention to (lie peculiar tactics adopted by what he called the Wellington man and the Auckland man. or rather their respective supporters, lioth were agreed, and said that he (Mr. .Malone) was the best man. but Okey men said don't vote for Malone or you will put Dockrill in, and Dockrill men said don't vote for Malone or you will put Okey ill. The. speaker suggested clearly to every sensible elector that the best thing to do would be to vote for him, and then both the others would have their desire. He spoke for one and a half hours, and lipid his audience thoroughly interested to the finish. Oil the motion of Mr. C. Bell, seconded by Mr. O'Sullivan, a vote of thanks was carried with warm acclamation. Mr. Boyce occupied the clmir. At Oakura at midday on Monday, air. Malone spoke to the men engaged on the Tapuae works, and a few settlers. The candidate was accorded a good hearing.
