THE PRESENT ELECTION.
To the Editor. Sir,—Surely the true aiul essentia! question before electors is this, Who among the three candidates is best qualiiied to represent Tarannki? 1 submit that electors should exclude all matters of creed and prejudice from this contest, and not denounce any candidate simply because he happens to be a Roman Catholic or a Protestant. How many electors who are now decrying Mr. Malone because of his creed will refuse (o support .Ur. Jennings at any future time on the same grounds'! Supposing, further, that Xew Zealand was called upon to select its Premier at the | ballot box, would Sir Joseph Ward be rejected on account of his religion! Surely not!— Yours, etc., XOX - SECT AEI AX.
